"They have been turned into an inaudible voice, they have become trembling animals," Balitsky says, claiming that this situation "can be corrected by the power of Russian weapons." Balitsky says that he does not believe in diplomacy and argues that the power of Russian weapons should be used.
He also says that with this move Russia can reclaim "the former subjects of the Russian Empire" so that "the whole world will not turn into Sodom and Gomorrah, as happened in Europe."
The Kremlin justifies the invasion of Ukraine as a means of preventing NATO expansion and "denazification". However, Russian propagandists' rhetoric about restoring the Russian Empire is striking, and many Western analysts see Putin's imperialist goals in this context.
