The need for blood is constant, so donors are always needed to roll up a sleeve in case of catastrophic events like last week's Hurricane Harvey in Houston. The Hoxworth Blood Center is teaming up with the Montgomery Inn Boathouse from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday to keep that blood supply steady. As an added bonus, all donors will get a free meal from Montgomery Inn after their donation, a bottle of Montgomery Inn barbeque sauce and a $10 Montgomery Inn gift card. Donors will also be entered into a drawing for a free dinner for 10 guests. "As a local, family-owned business, all of us at Montgomery Inn believe in the power of giving back to the community," said Dean Gregory, vice president of Montgomery Inn. "Giving blood is an easy but powerful way to make a difference in the Cincinnati community, and we are proud to support Hoxworth Blood Center in their lifesaving mission for another year." Hoxworth Blood Center needs to collect at least 300 units of blood and 20 units of platelets every day to meet the demand of 31 local hospitals. Lipton said that summer months are often very hard on the local and national blood supply, as blood usage often peaks during that time. "Hoxworth Blood Center is incredibly fortunate to have the support of a hometown business like Montgomery Inn. At a time when blood donations are low, we are grateful that Montgomery Inn will offer our donors a special incentive for rolling up their sleeve," said Alecia Lipton, spokesperson for Hoxworth Blood Centerds.
