Kelly Ryerson's Health Story

Kelly was dealing with a lot of very strange physical symptoms. Doctors didn't have any answers to as to why she was so exhausted. Kelly found out that glyphosate in our crops made her sick.

She talked to the scientist Stephanie Seneff about glyphosate, an herbicide used on crops.
Kelly discovered that over 80% of our dietary exposure to Roundup isn't from GMOs.

Farmers Spray Glyphosate On Ordinary Crops

Farmers spray glyphosate during pre-harvest desiccation practices. They will spray our grains or legumes or whatever it is with Roundup. You get an even drying, and then they bring out their equipment, harvest it all in one swoop. You can't wash off glyphosate from the grain.

Glyphosate Effects On Humans

Glyphosate can negatively affect our health in several ways. It works as an antibiotic and kills good gut bacteria. Glyphosate can impact that pathway that's so critical in the biome in our bacteria. It shuts off the shikimate pathway in our bacteria, which we are dependent on to get tryptophan, serotonin, and aromatic amino acids.

Glyphosate also contributes to leaky gut, where bad things inside the intestine leak out into the bloodstream and wreak havoc throughout the body. Glyphosate itself has now been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier and potentially have a link with Alzheimer's development.

We know that glyphosate can cause early sperm death and affect pregnant women. It also contributes to kidney disease, liver disease, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

How To Avoid GMOs

Eating organically is going to get rid of most exposures. To get organic certification, you can't use glyphosate on the farm property for three years. Non-GMO products can still be sprayed with glyphosate.
