How Naughty Dog MURDERED a Masterpiece

The Last of us Part 2 had so much potential. And despite it's controversies, in spite of some personal misgivings around some story telling decision they made, I genuinely liked the game and even thought it stood a chance to become a masterpiece based on how insanely ballsey and challenging the game was alone. Naughty Dog took a massive gamble asking the player one huge, difficult, engaging question...
And then they took their masterpiece in the making, and with one singular decision, shot it in the face.
