I'm from the North East of the UK. We have a legend of the " Lambton Worm". It was caught and subsequently slain by one of the Lambton family, who wore special armour.

Worm Hill is still present. Dominating nearby is a huge monument to the Earl of Lambton, an ancestor. This is a copy of an Egyptian Temple, and was opened by the head of the United Grand Lodge of England.
