Two microphones on NASA's Perseverance Mars rover are actively recording sounds on the planet, including those of the Ingenuity chopper and the rover itself in operation. These audio recordings offer a fresh perspective on the globe for the first time.

The atmospheres of Earth and Mars are dissimilar, which has an impact on how sound is perceived. In this video, scientists Nina Lanza and Justin Maki from the Los Alamos National Laboratory and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory highlight some of the noteworthy audio that was captured on Mars.
