Since touching down on Mars, NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance rover has been busy using the SuperCam equipment to examine the rocks and dirt on the floor of Jezero Crater. With its rock-vaporizing laser, camera, and microphone, SuperCam can collect information from a distance.

Hemani Kalucha, a Caltech employee on the SuperCam operations team, offers an instrument update in this video.

The laser pits displayed have an approximate diameter of.009 inches (250 microns) and are separated by 1/8 inch (3 millimeters). The video NASA's Perseverance Rover Hears Ingenuity Mars Helicopter in Flight features audio from an Ingenuity Mars Helicopter flight that was recorded by the SuperCam microphone.
