Zach Moore Podcast 30 Clip: Osiris Rex
For the first time in our planet's history, we have brought back a sample back from an asteroid. Although Japan has done this before, they retrieved 5 grams of material where the NASA Osiris Rex mission returned about 250 grams. The goal of the mission? To see how life could have started on this planet as well as the importance of the being able to travel to a small asteroid and return back to Earth.
At its furthest point, when the probe touched down on the asteroid Bennu, it was 200 million miles away from Earth.
This is truly one of the most important missions in the search for how we got here.
