Here is a cheap way to store big round bales to prevent them from rotting. Never ever place bales directly on the ground for storage. You will be sick when you see how much of the bale has rotted this winter when you feed it. We store every bale on 6-8" diameter oak logs that are 4 feet long. Why lose 20 to 30% of each bale to rot when you could be preserving it by simply stacking them on posts.
