Spying for Uncle Sam is a 1978 NBC TV documentary that features an interview with a former CIA officer and his wife. The film covers their lives in espionage. The couple decided to tell their story to help other Americans understand that spies with a heart of gold exist mainly in movies and novels. They wanted to show that in the real world, deceit carries danger.

The CIA used the film for training purposes. In April 1978, the CIA head of training, Harry E Fitzwater, wrote a memo confirming that the CIA was using the film.

The film features former CIA agent Caleb Bach and his wife. They hope their story will help others understand that in the real world, no matter how noble the aim, the practice of deceit carries danger.
