The best high school football rivalry in Greater Cincinnati wouldn't be the same without some drama. And that's exactly what occurred on a very rainy Friday night at Cardinal Stadium. St. Xavier rallied from 1`4 down in the fourth quarter to defeat host Colerain 20-17 in overtime -- the third consecutive game between the two programs to go to an extra session and the fourth time in the past five games in the series. "It's unbelievable, isn't it?" St. X coach Steve Specht said. With Colerain leading 14-0 at the 11:58 mark of the fourth quarter, the Bombers didn't panic. St. X (2-0), ranked No. 14 nationally by the MaxPreps Xcellent 25, went to a tempo offense in the fourth quarter and it paid off.
