Brooklyn Police rescue woman trapped below pier from the Gowanus Canal

Police rescued a woman from the Gowanus Canal on Tuesday.

The woman was clinging to the pier, but was trapped underneath and couldn’t climb out, according to the NYPD.

A police officer ran to the scene and talked to her until a Harbor Unit boat arrived, according to authorities.

She was taken to a hospital and was expected to recover, police said.
