We have an Excessive Heat Warning and an Air Quality Warning in effect through Sunday for Kern County. Bakersfield looks to top out at a high of 108 this afternoon, which would break today's old record. We're seeing those spikes in temperatures thanks to a new ridge of high pressure building in from the west, which is pushing most of the monsoonal moisture out of the way temporarily and providing these hot and slightly drier conditions.
