On a personal level, it hit home hard for me as this is something I've dealt with for most of my adult life currently in conversations with my Moms as she left me at 2yrs old to the devices of my father's siblings. This period of my life was very cruel...

Sadly, I don't believe I will ever get closure in regards to my Moms as I find it extremely difficult to reconcile how she was able to set aside her maternal instincts & leave me to such cruelty. Additionally, my adopted mother, who is white decided when I was the age of 15 that I was no longer her son upon divorcing my Pops. I'd spent 10+ years of my life with her, especially as she had insisted to Pops that she wouldn't return to the UK unless I came with her from Nigeria. we'll get into this a little as time goes by...
