In this unboxing / review, we’ll be taking a detailed look at the Transformers Studio Series ’86 Commander Class Ultra Magnus.

Both modes look great, if just a little bit wider than I expected. However, what a great shelf presence!

Articulation is very good except for the feet. He would’ve benefited greatly from additional ankle tilt, and some toe/heel motion.

Quality is overall very good. I have some concerns about the long-term durability of the friction pins for the shoulders and hips, but for now everything is as it should be.

This was a pre-order from BBTS.com, with MSRP of $89. Personally I think the value is here for this figure. He is too much fun to pass up!

My conclusion – I would encourage you to pick this figure up if you have the means. You get a high-quality, fun to transform, toon-accurate figure that looks great in both modes. No doubt about it, Ultra Magnus looks like he jumped off the screen and is ready to join Optimus (and Rodimus) Prime in battle against Megatron / Galvatron / Unicron and the Decepticon forces for control of Earth and Cybertron.
