Accused Rapist Charged

A 31-year-old man was arrested on Thursday in connection to a sexual battery incident in Golden Gate in June, the Collier County Sheriff's Office said. Alberto Alfonso Amezaga is charged with sexual battery, using force to likely cause serious injury and burglary of an occupied dwelling with battery. Amezaga entered the victim's home in the morning and attacked her while she slept, Detectives said. DNA collected during an investigating linked Amezaga to that crime. Amezaga is also a suspect in two other sexual batteries in Golden Gate that took place in July and August. Detectives are still working to connect Amezaga with those crimes. Amezaga was arrested at the Naples Jail Center where he has been incarcerated since his July 29 arrest on an unrelated charge of violating a no-contact order
