Missing Child Found! Charlotte Sena is SAFE and Abductor Jailed

The 9-year-old girl who authorities suspected was abducted Saturday in an upstate New York state park was found alive, state police said Monday night. Missing Child Found

"Charlotte Sena has been located and in good health," state police said in a statement. A suspect is in custody, state police said.

Speaking at a news conference, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said someone dropped off a ransom note at the home of the girl's parents, and a fingerprint found on it led to a nearby residence where the suspect was found. Missing Child Found

"He literally drove up to the family's mailbox ... at 4:20 in the morning," to drop off the note, the governor said. She said the fingerprint matched data related to a driving while intoxicated arrest made in 1999 in Saratoga.

Missing Child Found. The suspect was apprehended Monday evening with the help of two SWAT teams in a "dynamic entry" to his living quarters, an RV trailer, at a site where his mother also resides, she said.

The girl was ultimately found safe in a cupboard in the trailer, Hochul said. "She knew she was in safe hands," the governor said. Missing Child Found

The suspect was identified as Craig Nelson Ross Jr. A state police official said he suffered minor injuries when he allegedly resisted arrest. The suspect was initially identified as being 47, but authorities later said he was 46. Missing Child Found
