The Gen 3 is a series of M4-based airsoft AEGs released by Lancer Tactical, an improvement upon their previous Gen 2 line. The Gen 3 series offers many different external options with the same basic internals, allowing players to choose their preference of tactical and/or ergonomic features without changing performance. The standout feature of the Gen 3 is the inclusion of a pre-installed "Nebula" Electronic Trigger Unit (ETU) from Zion Arms, which gives the AEG additional customization options for full-auto fire. It also includes a Quick-Change Spring (QCS) system, allowing players to reduce the velocity of the AEG quickly without requiring a full teardown. The Gen 3 series is notably based around nylon (polymer) receiver sets.

In concept, the Gen 3 is a basic product to understand. Airsoft players have higher demands for their equipment than ever before, so it makes sense that companies seeking to be competitive in the growing airsoft market would include additional usability features. Features such as ETUs and QCSs should be normal inclusions in airsoft AEGs at this price point, so it is good to see Lancer Tactical attempting to be competitive. Overall, the Gen 3 is a basic M4 platform with prebuilt "aftermarket" customization features that looks good and performs well enough.
