It’s not the same thing! 🙅🏻‍♀️⁣

Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) is when your thyroid doesn't make enough thyroid hormone for your body’s needs. ⁣

Hypothyroidism is caused by many things and the most common reason in the U.S. for hypothyroidism is Hashimoto’s disease.⁣

Hashimoto’s disease is an autoimmune disease where your immune system attacks and damages your thyroid.⁣

Over time, the damage done to your thyroid can cause hypothyroidism, but not everyone who has Hashimoto’s will develop hypothyroidism. ⁣

Just to recap:⁣
👉🏼hypothyroidism: lots of causes ⁣
👉🏼Hashimoto’s ➡️ one cause of hypothyroidism ⁣
👉🏼 Hashimoto’s➡️ not everyone who has it, develops hypothyroidism ⁣

Some are able to catch Hashimoto’s early and prevent permanent damage to their thyroid.⁣

Hopefully, that is your goal too.⁣

Unfortunately, many women are told to “wait & see” during this crucial time. What your doctors are really waiting to see is enough damage to your thyroid that it starts showing up in your labs as hypothyroidism. ⁣

I don’t think that’s what they really want to see, but that’s just when they know what to do & how to treat it. ⁣

So don’t delay in taking action! ⁣

If you don’t want to “wait & see”, comment “𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗣” & I’ll DM you the next steps.⤵️⁣
