WEX MIN: Countdown to chaos: 45 days to shutdown, unemployment for strikers? #shorts

It’s the countdown to chaos. Congress just narrowly avoided a government shutdown mere hours before their midnight deadline. However this only delayed the possible shutdown by 45 days. Congress must now reach a funding agreement by Nov. 16, 2023.

The White House openly supports the right to strike. Now, whether or not those strikers should get unemployment, is another question. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) vetoed a bill over giving striking workers unemployment benefits, part of a wider pivot to the center sparking rumors of a presidential campaign.

Speaking of strikes... A Historic healthcare strike could start Wednesday. The Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions is poised for a three-day strike. With more than 75,000 healthcare workers across five states and Washington, D.C this would be the largest healthcare worker walkout in U.S. history.
