Sunday Melting Aluminum #foundry #aluminium #meltingmetal @bigstackD you inspired me

I had some aluminum pop/beer tabs saved up and I decided try melting them down in a fire.

I used a soup can as my vessel and an iron rod and spoon to remove the dross and ashes that fell into the vessel.

In the end I basically got enough aluminum to make a small coin.

I am going to save the dross for a second melt in the fall/winter when I build a forge to better melt the aluminum. I will probably get a better vessel since the soup can was glowing red with the molten aluminum in it.
