Jamaal Bowman is under fire for pulling a fire alarm at the Cannon House Office Building on Saturday afternoon in a suspected ploy to delay a continuing resolution vote to avert a government shutdown. An investigation into why it was pulled is under way, with Bowman’s spokesperson saying, “Congressman Bowman did not realize he would trigger a building alarm as he was rushing to make an urgent vote.” The reaction to Bowman’s alarm incident and subsequent excuse drew the ire of the internet, as no one is buying his story, with some saying Bowman may have committed crimes by pulling the fire alarm. Surely he will get the same treatment as the January 6 defendants and be left in solitary prison for a year awaiting trial.
