HADITH : Narrated by Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The example of a believer who recites the Quran and acts on it is like an orange (utrujjah) which tastes nice and smells nice. And the example of a believer who does not recite the Quran but acts on it is like a date which tastes good but has no smell. And the example of a hypocrite who recites the Quran is like a basil which smells good but tastes bitter. And the example of a hypocrite who does not recite the Quran is like a colocynth (bitter apple) which tastes bitter and has a bad smell." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

This hadith emphasizes the importance of not only reciting the Quran but also acting upon its teachings. A believer who both recites and implements the Quranic guidance is likened to something sweet and fragrant, while a hypocrite who recites but does not act upon it is compared to something bitter and unpleasant.
