Death toll in collapsed Zimbabwe gold mine expected to rise, vice president says

According to state media, the vice president indicated that the death toll resulting from a shaft collapse at an abandoned gold mine in Zimbabwe was anticipated to climb to 13.

In an interview with the state-run newspaper The Sunday Mail, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga was quoted as saying, “We believe we have lost about 13 individuals” in the mining tragedy.

This incident occurred on Friday in the gold-rich town of Chegutu, located approximately 100 kilometers (60 miles) west of the capital, Harare, ABC News reported.
