Wisdom - Part 7

The lesson on October 1, 2023 was part 7 of the “Wisdom” study. This lesson covered Proverbs chapter 6 where it is divided instruction from Prov. 6:1-23 of Wisdom’s call and warning from Prov. 6:24-35 of the Foreign Woman. Wayne did review what we learned in part 6, but then instructed us on how chapter 6 is organized. Prov. 6:1-5 Warning against inconsiderate suretyship; Prov. 6:6-11 Rebuke of the sluggard; Prov. 6:12-19 Warning against deceit and violent dealing; Prov. 6:20 – 35 Admonition to chastity and warning about consequences of adultery. Prov. 6:12-14 (verb: third person indicative) listed these 6 behaviors: 1) v 12. Walketh; 2) v 13. Winketh; 3) v 13. Speaketh; 4) v 13. Teacheth; 14. Frowardness is in his heart; 5) v 14. Deviseth; 6) 14. Soweth. We learned of the six things the Lord hates, the seventh was an abomination unto him: Prov. 6:17-19 KJV 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.Show more

The scripture reading was from Proverbs 6:1-5 KJV “1 My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger, 2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. 3 Do this now, my son, deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend. 4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids. 5 Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.”
