Strang took control of a large faction of Mormons in the wake of the succession crisis caused by the assassination of Joseph Smith and lead a group of intrepid Latter Day Saints to a remote island in Lake Michigan and crowned himself king. He committed acts of piracy , locked horns with President Millard Fillmore, became a well respected state politician and revolutionized women's attire. He was truly a larger than life character and in our examination of his life we discuss many ancillary topics.
