Girl Scout Cookies Become Bidenflation's Latest Victims

Girl Scout cookies appear to be the latest victim of the inflation under President Joe Biden. In New York, the Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson chapter announced to community members that the prices for all cookies will be $6 per box for this cookie season, according to a report. The price sat at approximately $5 per box last year. "In order to combat rising production and material costs, GSHH will be increasing the price of all cookie packages to $6.00," chapter leadership said.

"We expect our neighboring councils to announce similar increases in the coming weeks and months." A few cookies, including Toffee-Tastic and S'mores, had a $6 price tag. However, with rising expenses, classic favorites, including Thin Mints, now have a higher price for the chapter. According to the GSHH, the price hikes will affect both the Girl Scouts chapter and its Little Brownie Bakers, the cookie supplier, the report noted. "Unfortunately, both LBB and GSHH are not immune to inflation, and costs have risen for all aspects of the business," a letter from leaders read.

Chapters in Louisiana and California have announced similar price hikes, according to the report. "Each of our 111 Girl Scout councils sets local Girl Scout Cookie prices based on several factors," a Girl Scouts spokesperson said. "In some instances, councils are faced with the tough decision to raise the prices, though prices have remained steady in many areas for a number of years."
