On November 24, 1971, a man identifying himself as "Dan Cooper" (later mistakenly referred to as "D.B. Cooper") boarded Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305 in Portland, Oregon. What appeared to be a routine domestic flight soon turned into one of the most famous unsolved mysteries in American history. Cooper calmly handed a flight attendant a note claiming he had a bomb and hijacked the plane.
