Chances of a Shutdown Increase While U.S. Economy Weaker than 2011 Downgrade

With some House Republicans fighting over a temporary spending agreement between Speaker McCarthy and President Biden, we could see a government shutdown. Goldman Sachs recently put the odds at 90%. While we have survived the closing down of our federal government before, this comes at a time when the U.S. economy is at a very weak point; even worse than when we were downgraded in 2011.
