Plant roots bent metal forks

These are metal forks with which I dig the ground. The forks are bent. This happened because the roots of plants in the ground prevented the fork from being pulled out. I have leveled the forks many times. But then I stopped doing it. It's useless. After five minutes the forks will be bent again. This happens with a pitchfork when you dig the ground for the first time. The next time there are fewer roots. Therefore, the forks bend less. The third or fourth time there are no roots at all. Then you can dig with a shovel. That is, you need to dig with a pitchfork when there are a lot of roots. Then it is not possible to dig with a shovel.
