It has been three years since Joyce Echaquan died in a Joliette, Que., hospital after staff mocked her and dismissed her illness.
To mark the anniversary, people in Montreal gathered at a vigil to remember the Atikamekw mother of seven.
Since her death, Indigenous communities have been fighting for more equitable access to health care and reminding people that much still needs to be done.
