Emily Foster, 77, fatally stabbed in her Columbus, Ohio home

DailyKenn.com — Emily Foster, 77, was fatally stabbed in her Columbus, OH home.

Arrested was 28-year-old Michael J. Brooks II.

The home invasion and attack appear to have been random.

Brooks then drove a stolen truck to Atlanta where he attempted to illegally enter a number of homes in one neighborhood, reports say. He was shot by one of those homeowners.

"Police said he has a criminal record in communities up and down the Interstate 75 corridor," according to myfox29columbus.com.

"Court records show Brooks was released a day before the deadly stabbing from the Franklin County Jail after he pleaded to felony fleeing charges. He had earlier been charged with assault."

Brooks earned international fame as a recognized writer and retired magazine editor.
