Speaker McCarthy won't support a bill funding Ukraine without addressing the border crisis, 4 days before the Gov Shutdown deadline.

This comes just days after the Pentagon said it would exempt Ukraine operations from a potential shutdown if lawmakers can't agree on a deal to prevent a government shutdown.

THE BORDER CRISIS:

While Ukraine's funding is vital, McCarthy emphasizes that the border situation cannot be ignored. The crisis has been escalating, with record crossings and security concerns.

After a brief decrease in early summer, migrant numbers spiked in July and August, with over 230,000 encounters at the border, setting a record for August.

This has been putting a lot of stress on cities like New York City, which had initially welcomed the migrants but are now overwhelmed.
