In this video, we’re going to talk about low cholesterol dangers. I’m going to give you some facts about cholesterol.

Today, there’s a huge push to put everyone on cholesterol medications and to drive down cholesterol levels. In my opinion, this is a big problem. A normal cholesterol level is 200 today. However, 20 years ago, a normal cholesterol level was 225.

Even many people with a normal cholesterol level take cholesterol medications as a preventative measure.

This is all because people are concerned that cholesterol will clog their arteries.

Let’s take a look at what cholesterol really is.

Cholesterol is a precursor, or building block, for all of the sex hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. When you cut down your cholesterol too much, you can basically starve your body of these essential hormones.

Cholesterol also acts as a bandaid to fix damage caused by inflammation in the arterial walls. Over time, as cholesterol continues to fix damaged arterial walls, you develop clogged arteries.

The real problem is the damage happening to your arteries—cholesterol is just trying to fix the problems.

The thing that causes arterial inflammation is high insulin—which is most often a problem of too many carbs and too much sugar.

Also, keep in mind that 90% of the cholesterol in the body is recycled. If cholesterol is so bad, why do our bodies have a natural mechanism to recycle it? In fact, the body makes 2,000 mg of cholesterol each day.

All of your cells need cholesterol to function properly.

Cholesterol Facts summary:
1. 90% is recycled
2. It's a precursor to sex hormones
3. Sugar coverts to cholesterol and also causes inflammation
4. It acts as a bandage
5. Your body makes 2000mg per day
6. Bile helps break it down
