In this video, we’re going to talk about insomnia, depression, and anxiety.
Depression is often thought to cause insomnia. However, another approach is to reverse the causation. Insomnia could increase your risk of depression and anxiety significantly—here’s why.
Though depression and anxiety often coincide, there are some differences between the two.
Symptoms of depression:
• Feeling “blue”
• Apathy
• Loss of hope
• Not caring for anyone/anything
• Feeling down
Symptoms of anxiety:
• Worry
• Fear
• Panic
• Nervousness
• Overthinking
• Always trying to solve problems
Insomnia could be the cause of both of these problems. When you first correct insomnia, you may see a huge difference.
Your circadian rhythm controls when your feel sleepy and when you feel alert. Light and dark influence your circadian rhythm.
When you’re in the sun, you often feel much happier. This is because of the circadian rhythm and increased levels of vitamin D. In the winter months, people often feel more depressed because of low sunlight.
The best natural remedies for insomnia, depression, and anxiety are:
1. Increased vitamin D
2. Increased tryptophan (vitamin B3)
3. Vitamin B1 (avoid alcohol, sugar, and gastric bypass)
4. Increased greens (which supply potassium and magnesium)
5. Fixing insulin resistance and blood sugar issues
6. Improving your digestion to boost nutrient absorption (avoid eating late at night)
7. Lower your stress levels
8. Avoid stimulants, including caffeine and nicotine
9. Exercise
