In this video, we're going to talk about the symptoms of high and low cortisol levels.
Cortisol is a stress hormone. It helps you adapt to stress, and it is vital to the body's stress response.
Let's take a look at the effects of high and low cortisol.
High cortisol can cause…
• Fatigue
• Inflammation
• Blood sugar problems
• Sugar cravings
• High blood pressure
• High cholesterol
• Belly fat
Low cortisol can cause…
• Chronic fatigue
• Chronic inflammation
• Blood sugar problems
• Sugar cravings
• High blood pressure
• High cholesterol
• Belly fat
If you didn't notice, these lists are virtually identical.
Keep in mind that low cortisol may be related to Addison's disease. This is an autoimmune condition that affects the adrenal glands. This is not the focus of this video.
High cortisol can cause low cortisol. Why? Because when your adrenal is overworked, it burns out and begins producing very low amounts of cortisol.
Too much cortisol can cause cortisol resistance in the body by downgrading the cortisol receptors. In turn, this causes your adrenals to work overtime.
How can you avoid a cortisol-resistance situation? You have to keep your stress levels low. Long walks, avoiding too much screen time, getting enough sleep, using fewer stimulants (like coffee), getting out in nature, and relaxing are all ways you can lower your stress levels.
The Adrenal Fatigue Advanced Formula is fantastic support for those who have low cortisol. Check it out and let me know how it works for you in the comments below.
