In this video, we’re going to take a look at the most common causes of polycystic ovarian syndrome. PCOS is a condition where a woman is experiencing high levels of androgens and her menstruation often stops. PCOS can also be diagnosed via ultrasound.

PCOS symptoms include the following:
•Facial hair
•Deep voice
•Belly fat
•Acne
•Hair loss

Insulin resistance is often considered an associated symptom of PCOS. Researchers can not agree on if insulin resistance is a cause or an effect of PCOS.

The truth is that insulin resistance is the primary cause of PCOS, not a symptom! Normalizing high levels of androgens or using drugs to suppress androgens will not get rid of insulin resistance.

Sometimes doctors will recommend taking estrogen or birth control pills as PCOS treatment, but it’s best to focus on fixing insulin resistance.

Intermittent fasting and the keto diet can greatly improve insulin resistance, which in turn helps to improve the symptoms of PCOS.
