In this video, we’re going to talk about fad diets. Fad comes from the Latin word “fatuus”, which means stupid. I took a continuing education course in nutrition about fad diets and I was surprised at the information I discovered.

According to this nutrition course, here are 9 criteria of a fad diet:
1. Low-carb
2. Deviates from the food pyramid
3. Too restrictive (eliminates a food group)
4. Fast results
5. Too simple
6. Anecdotal
7. Labels certain foods as bad
8. Implies that food can change your chemistry
9. Sounds too good to be true

According to this course, we should all have a complex, high-carb diet with slow results that follows the food pyramid, includes all food groups, and has no success stories.

You may have also noticed that these criteria closely describe Healthy Keto. Fad diets should actually be described as a diet that does not give you long-lasting, healthy results.
