In this video, we’re going to talk about the best natural source of omega-3 fatty acids. Fish oil supplements are popular for omega-3 benefits, but it can be difficult to find a high quality fish oil. Unless you’re choosing virgin cod liver oil and consuming it very rapidly, fish oil oxidizes and goes rancid relatively quickly.
One of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids is krill oil. Krill oil is made from krill—small shellfish similar to shrimp. It's loaded with healthy fats and is an excellent source of both EPA and DHA. Krill oil contains a compound called phosphatidylcholine which protects the cell membrane.
Each of your cells is composed of 44% cholesterol and phospholipids, so consuming a good amount of fat is crucial for many functions in your body.
Krill oil also contains a compound known as astaxanthin. Aside from its numerous health benefits, astaxanthin also helps to preserve krill oil so that it doesn’t turn rancid.
