In this video, we’re going to talk about the connection between intermittent fasting and gallstones. Does intermittent fasting or skipping meals cause gallstones?
Gallstones are typically caused by a lack of bile. Bile is produced by the liver and then it is stored and concentrated in the gallbladder. Bile production is triggered by saturated fat. This is why low-fat diets can sometimes cause gallstones.
Diabetics, people who eat frequent meals, or people consuming high-carb diets often have low bile, which can lead to gallstones.
Keto and intermittent fasting are incredibly helpful in preventing gallstones. Keto introduces more fat into the diet to stimulate bile production, while intermittent fasting allows the body time to concentrate bile in the gallbladder.
