In this video, we’re going to talk about the cognitive and mood effects of keto and intermittent fasting. Unfortunately, there aren’t many studies on the cognitive effects of keto and intermittent fasting.

What we know for sure is that diets high in carbs and sugar are damaging to the brain and can lead to conditions like dementia and atrophy of your brain tissue. High-carb diets destroy the hippocampus which is very damaging to your memory.

Low blood sugar is also a result of high-carb diets. High levels of insulin push high blood sugar back down, resulting in hypoglycemia. This causes anxiety, irritability, sadness, and depression.

The brain does not have glycogen stores, so it gets its fuel from the blood. If you have low blood sugar, it can negatively affect brain function, leading to headaches, migraines, and mood disorders.

Insulin resistance also interferes with the production of important neurotransmitters like dopamine, GABA, and serotonin. When you fix your blood sugar issues, it can have tremendous benefits for your mood.

The keto diet stimulates the production of GABA and reduces inflammation in the brain and throughout the body. Intermittent fasting helps to improve insulin sensitivity, helps to regrow neurons, and reduces the amyloid plaquing involved in dementia.

Healthy Keto and intermittent fasting can greatly improve your focus, concentration, memory, and overall emotional state.
