In this video, we’re going to talk about vitamin and mineral intake while fasting. Should you take a multivitamin while fasting? Not necessarily. It’s 100% possible to get everything you need from the food that you eat without taking a multivitamin while intermittent fasting.

When you’re doing intermittent fasting, your body goes into a state of autophagy and begins recycling proteins and amino acids. Growth hormone increases, which protects you against the loss of protein. Your body becomes very efficient in recycling other essential nutrients as well.

You will easily get plenty of amino acids if you consume meat, fish, and eggs. If you’re doing keto and intermittent fasting, you’ll have plenty of fatty acids in your diet, as well as fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.

Water-soluble vitamins like vitamin C are found abundantly in vegetables and leafy greens. Vegetables also provide you with important minerals like magnesium and potassium. If you’d like to increase your mineral intake, electrolyte powder is a good choice.

You don’t want to consume a multivitamin or any supplements that contain synthetic vitamin C. Synthetic vitamin C is made out of cornstarch and sulfuric acid. Natural vitamin C complex is what your body needs!

B vitamins are also water-soluble. It can be beneficial to take a nutritional yeast supplement to ensure adequate intake of B vitamins.

Trace minerals are the most difficult to get because they have been depleted from most soils. Eating extra seafood and sea kelp can help.

Consider adding phytonutrients to your diet for their numerous health benefits. Cruciferous vegetables like kale, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, and cauliflower all provide the body with numerous phytonutrients.

If you want to take a multivitamin while fasting, ensure it is food-based and not synthetic.
