In this video, we’re going to talk about intermittent fasting and your adrenal glands. When you fast, you can end up with low blood sugar, also known as hypoglycemia. Cortisol is released from the adrenal glands to raise blood sugar and counter hypoglycemia. This is the normal function of the adrenal glands and does not harm or stress them.

If you have insulin resistance, you also have high levels of insulin while fasting. Excess insulin lowers your blood sugar. When the adrenal glands release cortisol, they are actually helping you combat insulin resistance and stabilize your blood sugars.

Intermittent fasting is not going to harm your adrenal glands. If you have insulin resistance, it may be helpful to support the adrenal glands while you’re fasting.
