In this video, we’re going to talk about agave nectar, molasses, and honey on keto—are they keto-friendly? The short answer is no, but let’s take a look at why.

Blackstrap molasses contains many concentrated nutrients, but it’s too high in sugar for a ketogenic diet. Blackstrap molasses is a good source of the following vitamins and minerals:
• Potassium
• Manganese
• Copper
• Iron
• Calcium
• Magnesium
• Phosphorus
• B1, B2, B3, B6

Although blackstrap molasses is too high in sugar for keto, it makes an excellent face mask. Combine one tablespoon of blackstrap molasses with one tablespoon of coconut oil and leave it on your skin for 20 minutes. This mask will allow you to get molasses benefits without having to spike insulin!

Honey and agave nectar are also unsuitable for a ketogenic diet. Agave nectar is the least keto-friendly because 90 percent of agave nectar is fructose.
