In this video, we’re going to talk about bowel movements and constipation while doing intermittent fasting. Will you have less bowel movements while fasting? The answer is probably! When you are eating less food, you don’t need to go as often.

Having less frequent bowel movements is not the same as being constipated. If you’re constipated, you’ll feel full and backed up—like you need to go, but you can’t. If you’re doing keto and intermittent fasting and also dealing with constipation, you’re either consuming too many vegetables, or not enough!

Consuming vegetables improves your digestion and constipation. The fiber in vegetables feeds the microbes in your gut. Sometimes, if you’re eating more vegetables than you’re used to, you may not have enough microbes to digest the fiber. This could lead to constipation.

Try cutting back a bit, or changing the type of vegetables that you’re eating. Steamed and fermented vegetables are easier to digest. Fermented vegetables have added benefits for your digestion.

Gallbladder issues can also cause constipation. If you don’t have a gallbladder or you have a congested gallbladder, you probably don’t have enough bile. Bile lubricates the colon, which is important for healthy bowel movements.

Here are some of the symptoms of low bile:
•Stool floats
•Full sensation over the right lower rib-cage area
•Burping
•Belching
•Bloating
•Gas
