In this video, we’re going to talk about obesity and food statistics. Since 1970, obesity has tripled in adults and childhood obesity has almost tripled as well.

Based on food statistics from 2014, each day, the average American consumes:
1.6 cups of vegetables
7.1 ounces of protein
63 grams of fat (44.7 grams of vegetable fat/ 14.7 grams of saturated fat)
.48 pounds of grains
23 teaspoons of added sugar

It is no surprise that obesity in America is at an all time high with these alarming food statistics.

A proper diet should include 7-10 cups of vegetables. Sixty-three grams of fat is not unreasonable, but the average person is consuming too much vegetable fat and oil.

A half pound of grains is way too much to consume on a daily basis. Many of these grains are refined carbs which ultimately turn into sugar.

Sugar consumption is at an all time high. Added sugar is unnecessary and you should aim to consume a teaspoon or less per day.

With a focus on nutrition, carbohydrates, and sugar consumption, obesity rates will start to decline.
