In this video, I explain why inflammation is the common factor among many serious diseases such as heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and autoimmune diseases, among others. I’ll also touch a little bit on diabetes.
In heart disease, someone develops plaque in their blood vessels. They usually have high LDL cholesterol, called the bad cholesterol. But LDL is a lipoprotein. Plaque comprises cholesterol, calcium, and proteins. But no one tells you to avoid protein or calcium! Plaque forms in response to inflammation. There’s some type of damage in the arterial wall. One of the best tests to have done is the coronary artery calcium test (CAC). It’s far more accurate at detecting heart disease than cholesterol levels.
Heart disease has numerous causes. Anything that oxidizes the artery wall is how it starts.
With Alzheimer’s, there is something called amyloid plaquing. It’s a type of protein. It starts from some kind of damage to the brain such as oxidation or an infection, leading to inflammation, with the resulting plaque that’s formed as the body’s attempt to heal itself. As well, the cells become hypoglycemic because they can’t take up glucose as fuel. They need ketones instead.
As for cancer, first comes damage to your mitochondria, potentially from radiation or free radicals. Then your body shifts to a different kind of metabolism, running on sugar or glutamine. Cancer spreads by following areas of inflammation, old injury, or trauma.
Autoimmune diseases occur when your body develops antibodies against itself. Then inflammation happens as your body wars with itself, such as with rheumatoid arthritis or multiple sclerosis, and even diabetes.
Here are 6 things you can do to decrease inflammation:
1. Eat foods that provide protective factors, like cruciferous vegetables, grass fed products, and healthy fats
2. Keep your stress low
3. Keep sugar low
4. Keep key vitamins high
5. Do intermittent fasting
6. Maintain gut health
Now that you know inflammation is a common factor among serious diseases, I urge you to take steps to decrease it.
