Passing a Kidney Stone? Do This Fast! – Dr.Berg on Removing Kidney Stones

I explain several steps you can take to relieve the pain of kidney stones.

Hopefully, you’re not trying to focus on this video while passing a kidney stone! But, say you can’t get to the hospital or your doctor’s office. Here’s what you can do for relief:

● Start drinking lots of water right now
● If you have potassium citrate or electrolytes, add one of them to the water, to alkalize any uric acid crystals. This will also help with oxalate stones.
● If you don’t have either of the above two items, use lemon juice
● Give the water up to 15 minutes to filter through the kidneys and provide relief
● Give yourself what’s called manual therapy to manipulate the stone out. Press about an inch to an inch and a half to the right side of your belly button, and under your rib cage. Slowly press downward to the bottom of your pelvis. Repeat on the left side. You might find some very tight areas that are in spasm.
● Try to relax and breathe slowly.
● Take hydroxycitrate. This is my favorite remedy! Potassium citrate works well too, but hydroxycitrate is the best.

These are some ways to relieve at least some of the pain of kidney stones.
