In this video, I demonstrate a technique for a skull massage that can give you deep sleep. This is different from other skull massage videos you find online. We’ll be working on what’s called the sagittal suture, also called a joint. It’s at the top of your skull. In some people, it’s fused, but others have some fibrous tissue in the joint that can expand slightly.

Start at the back of the middle of the skull and, with your thumb, slowly massage forward toward the forehead. Press from back to front. Make sure to go very slowly.

I have no idea why this works, but it does! I’ve done this a thousand times in my practice, with excellent results. People get deep sleep, they can breathe better, and it reduces stress. Note that you need another person to do this on you; you can’t do it to yourself. I recommend that two of you watch this video, then practice back and forth on each other.

See, on my skeleton model, where the skull sutures are, and where to place your thumb to massage slowly from the back of the skull, across the top, toward the forehead. Use traction to push forward. Take your opposite hand and hold it against the person’s forehead before carefully pressing your hands toward each other, and using both thumbs to massage in opposite directions along the suture. You’re creating relaxation along the suture.

Every so often, stop moving your thumbs toward each other. Use one hand to stabilize the forehead, and with the other use your thumb to press gently for several seconds in one place along the suture, to encourage a release. Be sure to press forward toward the forehead. Use your remaining fingers to support the back of the skull while you do this.

Continue inching forward from the back of the skull to the front. Stop occasionally to maintain gentle pressure in one place with your thumb.

Be sure not to mess up the hair!

The only time you wouldn’t do this massage on someone is if they had sustained a hit on the top of their head.

The person you’re massaging should feel their head and skull relax. If they’ve had an injury to the left or right side of their head, this massage is essential. If your thumb gets sore as you massage, simply bend it and place your other thumb on top to help with the pressure.

Go ahead and try this with someone so you can each get deep sleep as you give each other a skull massage.
