In this video, I want to cover what you need to know about bile reflux. Many people confuse bile reflux and acid reflux or GERD, but they are different.

With bile reflux, you have bile from the small intestine backing up into the stomach. If it’s in the stomach, it can affect the pH of the stomach, and it can dissolve certain things. It can also create inflammation, ulcers, and gastritis. A few other names for bile reflux are gastritis, alkaline reflux gastritis, or biliary reflux.

GERD is a situation where the acid from the stomach is coming up into the esophagus. But, bile reflux can also cause bile to go up into the esophagus, creating a lot of damage.

What you could do:
• Take bile salts

Bile salts can help stimulate the flow and the thinning of bile, so it’s not turning into sludge, and it can flow through the body. Bile salts can also be a good remedy for GERD. But, if there is not an ulcer or inflammation in the stomach (gastritis), a person with GERD could greatly benefit from taking betaine hydrochloride and apple cider vinegar. These two acidifiers can also help release a person’s own bile salts and help reduce bile reflux.

A combination of both the acidifier and bile salts could be a good remedy unless there is an ulcer. You would typically know if there is an ulcer if you have more pain when you take the acidifier.

Remember, the root cause of this problem is likely your diet. You may want to try healthy keto and intermittent fasting.
